Connection Groups
Our Connection Groups create opportunities for connection, support, and impact that builds community. Groups are formed around a specific stage in adoption and are facilitated by a therapist or ASA staff member.
These groups are ongoing. There is no official start or stop point- join when your schedule allows- it's like rolling admission. Please let the group facilitator know you'd like to join as the facilitators often share information about the group, will communicate if there are scheduling changes and will collect RSVPs prior to each group's meeting.
Pricing of the groups varies but are specified below.
Your first group is always FREE!
Please reach out via email with questions to the specific group's facilitator or to info@adoptionsupporalliance.org.
Forever Family (with FVC)
Second Tuesday Monthly
In partnership with Foster Village Charlotte, this is a group for caregivers who have adopted or have guardianship from foster care. This group is also open for foster parents who are on the journey toward adoption (post TPR). The groups will be anchored by a topic of focus each month (Grief & Loss, Race & Culture, Biological Family Relationships and Managing Behaviors). But, please know that you can bring up issues outside the topic of focus if you need or want to but the topics will help us focus our conversations. There is always so much to talk about and we want to help structure those conversations so everyone can get the most possible out of our time together. Registration should be done on the Foster Village Charlotte website.
Parents of Teens & Young Adults
First Monday Monthly
Parenting a teenager isn't always easy, but having a support network definitely helps. If you’re an adoptive parent of a teenager or young adult, join our support group for regular discussions about all the issues impacting your family at this transitional life stage.
