About the Event
Adoption Support Alliance is excited to extend Lauren Benton's PhD internship through the summer. Lauren Benton is a licensed professional counselor, a PhD student in UNCC's counseling department and an adoptee. This summer, Lauren will facilitate a connection group for adopted teens based on the workbook Beneath the Mask, which "features heartfelt stories written by teen and young adult adoptees who graciously shared their feelings about their own adoption journeys. [The workbook is] filled with activities and journaling pages" that will be used to help our teen participants work through their own adoption journeys and their feelings about it.
Group will meet weekly for four weeks when school is out on Tuesdays from 10 am to noon. The dates are June 11, June 18, June 25 and July 2. We ask that, if you register your teen, he or she is able to attend all four group meeting (barring last-minute illness, of course) to create some consistency with participation and allow each session's content to build on previous groups.
The cost for this group will be $20 per teen, which will cover the cost of the workbook for each participant.
