Sunday, November 10th, was our first ever Art Show! In honor of our 10th Birthday and National Adoption Awareness Month, we hosted an afternoon of sophisticated fun at our “Both/And: An Adoption Art Show.” We appreciate everyone who attended and hope that you enjoyed the show as much as we did!

The afternoon started out with mingling with new and old friends and perusing the art submissions. Many of the submissions showcased were from our “Be You” Adoptee Summer Camp. These pieces were extra special as they were made from the hands of young adoptees and created after exploring different elements of adoption.
One of the pieces was "I am Me; We are We." It allowed our artists to not only celebrate the differences that they all have, but also know that it's okay to feel all sorts of different emotions when both noticing and celebrating those differences.
Another piece we were really proud of was the rainbow canvas that greeted all of our guests as they walked in. So many people in our community played a part in creating this piece as it traveled with us for many of the events we hosted this year. Many of the hands that helped this rainbow come together were at the art show and were able to see how beautiful it turned out.
The show officially started when our emcee, Ranika, welcomed everyone for attending. She graciously spent the afternoon making our guests feel welcomed and ensuring the show went smoothly. We are so thankful for her willingness to support ASA with her talents!
Lenny Boy’s Brewery was a fantastic place to host our event! From the signature drinks they created just for our guests to the exposed brick walls and authentic barrels that allowed our art work to shine, we truly enjoyed our experience at Lenny Boy’s!
Two highlights of the evening was our Honoring of the Artists Ceremony and the speech given by ASA's Executive Director and Cofounder, Erin Nasmyth.
All of our artists who attended the show were honored when members of our community presented them with their Artist Pin. So many smiles were seen and giggles were heard from the young artists as they admired their pins and watched the audience celebrate their accomplishments!
When our Executive Director, Erin, took the stage, she spent a few minutes reflecting on everything Adoption Support Alliance has accomplished. For over 10 years, she has fearlessly and beautifully led her team and the impact has been anything but small! It was a joy to not only celebrate 10 years of ASA, but to also celebrate Erin and who she is to our community.
Finally, we’d love to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to so many people who helped this show come together and made our event a success!
